How to choose a Belt-driven Fan
ChartBeltDrive

If there is no fan recommended for your application in our Application Guide,
refer to this section to help select your fan.

Click on model number to jump to that page.

To select the best belt-driven fan for your application, you will need to know the following:

1. What is the largest diameter and thickness the fan can be and fit within the shroud or mounting area (while maintaining proper clearances, see p. 24.)?

2. What is the vehicle mainly used for (determine cooling requirement & maximum fan speed requirement)?

3. What type of fan do I want for my vehicle (ex. Flex, clutch, race, or economy fan)?

4. What mounting pattern is used where the fan mounts to the pulley or adapter?

5. Will I need any spacers or adapters to mount and locate the fan (see page 24)?

6. Which direction will the fan rotate? (Standing at the front of the vehicle looking towards the rear, clockwise = standard rotation; counterclockwise = reverse rotation.) This is IMPORTANT!

Using the above criteria, determine what fans are available for your particular application, and from them, select the one that best fits your needs.

Remember to order adapters or spacers (if necessary) and be sure there is adequate clearance around the fan blades

(see p. 24 & 25) before starting the vehicle!
